Journalism Curriculum

The Journalism curriculum introduces SMPA students to media practice and theory with a twist. Far from traditional, the journalism program helps students hone their skills in critical analysis, and writing for newspapers, magazines, television and the Web, all while drawing on today's news and current affairs.

The Journalism major is available only to students enrolled in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences. Prospective students can apply directly to the program as incoming freshman or they can wait and apply as a GW sophomore. The ultimate decision for admission the program is made by the Journalism faculty.

For detailed information on the admissions process and the requirements of the Journalism major, download the Journalism Student Handbook. A must read for all Journalism Majors and Minors.
