Facility
In January 2001, the School of Media and Public Affairs moved into its current residence--a $27-million state-of-the-art facility located at the corner of 21st and H Streets.
The Media and Public Affairs building features a 258-seat auditorium designed to attract media events, a flash studio where faculty can be interviewed and beamed to television shows such as ABC's Good Morning America without leaving Washington, D.C., and the Luther W. Brady Art Gallery.
In addition, the building is equipped with a fiber optic network, Internet access, and a teleconferencing classroom to enhance GW's distance learning programs. The latest technology can be found in the student media center that is equipped for print, broadcast, and online media projects. And SMPA students benefit from the Richard Eaton Broadcast Suite which houses a fully-functional television studio and control room as well as audio and editing laboratories.
The Media and Public Affairs Building, is also home to CNN’s “Crossfire,” and related undergraduate and graduate programs including, public policy, telecommunications, political management, and public administration.
Among the events and faces to visit the MPA Building already are CNN’s “Crossfire,” Sen. Joseph Lieberman (D-CT), CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Israeli President Moshe Katsav, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, CBS’s Bob Schiefer, and AOL vice chairman and Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis.
