Journalism Oral History Project

For most of American history, members of the press were largely invisible spectators who chronicled the highly public performance of politics and government in Washington, D.C.

The Journalism Oral History Project records in tape and transcript the private memories of reporters that were never published and otherwise might be lost.

This program combines teaching with research as students learn simultaneously about both political history and journalistic interviewing techniques.

Our audience includes scholars, students, family historians, local history enthusiasts--and you.

See for yourself by traveling backwards in time with some of Washington's most intriguing journalists as your tour guide.
