Carol Richards joined GW as an adjunct professor after retiring from Newsday, where she was Deputy Editor of the Editorial Pages for 20 years. Before that, she was a founding editor of USA TODAY and national editor of Gannett News Service. At Gannett, she covered the White House, Congress, and demographic issues. At USA TODAY she wrote editorials. She also was president of the Washington Press Club and is a member of the National Press Club.
