Senior Marianna Sotomayor is the First Recipient of the GW-WHCA Scholarship

Senior Marianna Sotomayor awarded $2,500 and a meeting with President Obama.

Marianna Sotomayor is the inaugural recipient of the new George Washington University-White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) scholarship. The scholarship provides one journalism student each year who exhibits interest in diversity issues with a financial award and a seat at the annual WHCA Dinner. Sotomayor has already made a name for herself in the journalism profession since first arriving at GW. She is an anchor, editor and executive producer of GWeek News on GWTV and has held internships on The Hill, with CNN and at POLITICO. Sotomayor will attend the WHCA Dinner on April 25 where she will meet Washington’s most powerful politicians as well as President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.
