Javier is an associate Professor at the Faculty of Communication at University of Navarra in Spain, where he is also finishing his PHD with a research project about audiovisual framing, social media and engagement communication strategies. The case of study focuses on ISIS audiovisual strategy. He has also served as the Chief of the Cabinet of the Vice-president and the Spokesperson at the Government of Navarra in Spain, and has been a socio economic researcher at the Spanish Arab House, a public institution linked to the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs devoted to promote public diplomacy with the Arab world.

Javier Lesaca cooperates as an expert in the International Observatory for Terrorism Studies, launched in Spain by the Spanish Collective of Victims of Terrorism. During the last year Javier has attended several panels analyzing the communication strategy of terrorist groups, including events at the Security Council of United Nations at New York, and at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. He has also published articles about this issue at Brookings Institution and has been interviewed by the most relevant Spanish Media. His research project has been mentioned at the Committee on Oversight & Government Reform at the US Congress.
