Advocacy Scholar @ National Governors Association

The National Governors Association is in search of a full-time, paid Advocacy Scholar (intern) beginning in February 2019. The intern will work on a wide variety of issues, including: economic development, commerce, education, workforce, health human services, homeland security, public safety and natural resources.

Responsibilities

  • conduct research
  • monitor legislation
  • author memos, letters  and policy reports
  • coordinate and participate in meetings
  • interact with governors' staff
  • graphically design resources for governors’ offices, the Administration and Capitol Hil
  • perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • graduate students, undergraduate students or recent graduates from a public policy, political science, communications, journalism or related program with an interest in Capitol Hill, Presidential Administrations, state government, intergovernmental relations, public policy and/or public administration
  • exceptional oral and written communications skills
  • ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting
  • a high degree of professionalism and integrity
  • a strong desire to find bipartisan solutions for state issues
  • Previous experience in graphic design and/or political communications are preferred
