The National Governors Association is in search of a full-time, paid Advocacy Scholar (intern) beginning in February 2019. The intern will work on a wide variety of issues, including: economic development, commerce, education, workforce, health human services, homeland security, public safety and natural resources.
Responsibilities
- conduct research
- monitor legislation
- author memos, letters and policy reports
- coordinate and participate in meetings
- interact with governors' staff
- graphically design resources for governors’ offices, the Administration and Capitol Hil
- perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- graduate students, undergraduate students or recent graduates from a public policy, political science, communications, journalism or related program with an interest in Capitol Hill, Presidential Administrations, state government, intergovernmental relations, public policy and/or public administration
- exceptional oral and written communications skills
- ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting
- a high degree of professionalism and integrity
- a strong desire to find bipartisan solutions for state issues
- Previous experience in graphic design and/or political communications are preferred
