Communications and Policy Intern @ Urban Alliance

Urban Alliance, a national nonprofit that connects underserved high school youth with internships, professional development, and mentoring, is seeking a part-time communications and policy intern.

Undergraduate or graduate students with an academic interest in communications are preferred. The internship will provide a firsthand look at how a nonprofit builds a communications operation, and offer an intern experience in everything from social media to strategic planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Media monitoring 
  • Compiling media clips
  • Policy research
  • Drafting and pitching social media content
  • Drafting reporter pitches
  • Drafting communications deliverables and more 

Their schedule is flexible, but the intern must be available for a minimum of 8 hours per week to work on-site at thier Dupont Circle office during normal business hours. The internship can be structured as needed to earn course credit, and includes a transportation stipend.
