Communications Internship @ Born This Way Foundation

Born This Way Foundation is looking for a communications intern with digital production skills ​to assist in the Foundation’s external communications efforts, including press outreach and the creation of digital content such as videos. This is a hands-on position, offering the opportunity to help shape and create the content BTWF uses to engage its community and amplify our programming. ​This is a role for someone who is passionate about mental health advocacy and digital storytelling!

The ideal candidate has experience with writing, photography, and videography and an interest in communications and storytelling. ​This position reports to the Communications + Outreach Associate and will work closely with the BTWF communications and programming staff.

While this position will largely work remotely, they prefer someone based in New York City. They will consider applicants in other locations as well. This internship requires 15 - 20 hours per week for 3 - 4 months. This position is unpaid.

Responsibilities

  • Assist staff in developing relevant written materials such as press releases and blog posts, as well as videos and photos for online content
  • Assist with video production logistics, such as acquiring relevant supplies, helping to set up video shoots, transcribing, and other tasks necessary for video projects
  • Perform other duties as requested by staff in a proficient manner that adheres to the quality expected
  • Support staff by taking detailed notes during meetings, organizing/managing our library of digital assets
  • for easy retrieval and repurposing, and performing other administrative tasks as required

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro CC (Premiere + Photoshop)
  • Strong interest in storytelling and video production
  • Experience using DSLRs for video recording
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter with a great work ethic, ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and has the ability to clearly communicate solutions
  • Working knowledge of social media channels (preferred, but not required)
  • video editing skills a plus
