The Crime Without a Name: Ethnocide and the Erasure of Culture in America Book Talk
Moderated by SMPA Director and Professor Silvio Waisbord, join us on Wednesday, March 23 in MPA #429 or via Zoom at 12pm for a conversation with part-time SMPA Professor Barrett Holmes Pitner and his new book titled The Crime Without a Name: Ethnocide and the Erasure of Culture in America that was selected by NPR as one of their top books of the year for 2021.
Pitner’s new book follows his journey to identify and remedy how we discuss race and culture in the United States. The book traces the historical origins of ethnocide in the United States, examines the personal, lived consequences of existing within an ongoing erasure, and offers ways for readers to combat and overcome our country’s ethnocidal foundation.
Lunch will be served and seats are limited. Masks are required at all times when not eating or drinking.
