Smithsonian Libraries Education Department is looking for a digital media intern that is skilled in communication and design ability. Specifically, they are looking for someone able to complete website updates, create digital marketing materials (flyers, logos, etc) and shoot/edit photos and videos for social media. The person who fills this role should be familiar with the Adobe Creative Suite and basic website design. Position can be completed at a full or part-time pace, with flexible work hours.
Through this internship, a student will have the opportunity to learn about digital communications and marketing strategies. The student will learn how to evaluate existing strategies and materials and how to apply best practices. The student will hone skills in design programs and gain experience handling a variety of projects simultaneously while strengthening knowledge of the library and museum fields.
The ideal candidate could be either an undergrad or Masters student in good standing in the following fields: Art, Graphic Design, Photography, Communications, Education, Library Science.
Applications are due March 22. Applicants should expect to be notified of selection status in early April. Internships typically begin in early June, though exact dates are flexible, depending on project and supervisor.
