GW'S INSTITUTE FOR PUBLIC DIPLOMACY AND GLOBAL COMMUNICATION TOGETHER WITH THE CSIS TRANSATLANTIC MEDIA NETWORK WILL HOST A PANEL DISCUSSION ON NAVIGATING THE U.S. MEDIA
EVENT: A panel of media experts and foreign journalists will candidly discuss and relate expertise and experiences on U.S. media bias, the role of ideology in news outlets and the impact of new technology in American media. P.J. Crowley, assistant secretary of state for public affairs, will deliver the keynote address on the successes and pitfalls of navigating media in the United States. GW's Institute for Public Diplomacy and Global Communication and the Center for Strategic and International Studies Transatlantic Media Network will host the discussion.

BACKGROUND: The Institute for Public Diplomacy and Global Communication is housed in the School of Media and Public Affairs and the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University. It was formed in 2005 when Dr. Walter A. Roberts, a foreign policy expert, created an endowment in his name for the institute. The Transatlantic Media Network promotes excellence in journalism through the development of an expanding network of media representatives from both sides of the Atlantic for the exchange of journalistic resources and mutual professional support. The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a bipartisan, non-profit organization founded in 1962 and headquartered in Washington, D.C.
