Holiday Message from Director Waisbord

Happy Holidays from SMPA

It is hard to believe that we are already approaching the end of 2022 and the conclusion of our semester.

This Fall brought with it remarkable achievements for our SMPA community. We (again) welcomed the return of in-person classes. It was so wonderful to see each other on campus, classrooms, and meetings. We had remarkable events featuring great speakers and thought leaders. We discussed so many important issues for our education, professional development, research, and creative work. We dissected media representations, election and advocacy campaigns, news coverage, journalistic practice and ethics, global problems and media. We learned by doing.

As this semester comes to a close, I hope that you are proud of your efforts this fall - from hard work in the classroom to new internships and jobs. I remain so impressed with the success of our SMPA community.

At this time of the year, when we reflect on the recent past and appreciate the wonderful people who enrich our lives, I send my best wishes for you and your loved ones. I am so grateful to be part of SMPA - a community of learning and practice, with enormously talented, enthusiastic and curious people, dedicated to education and to supporting each other.

Thank you students, staff, faculty and alumni for everything you do to make us #SMPAProud.

Best of luck to you all in this final push of the year. We look forward to seeing you back on campus in 2023.

Wishing you a safe, restful, and happy holiday season!
