Internship @ D.C. Witness

The internship is devoted to helping students and recent grads improve their writing, gain legal insight, strengthen accuracy, research, analytical and critical thinking skills along with gaining or improving skills in print and broadcast journalism.

Availability requirements will vary, but students need to be able to commit to at least 3-4 hours, two-three days a week.

Full day internships are also available.

Students looking to gain course credit through internships should apply.

Internships are expected to begin in January.

Responsibilities

  • Track homicide cases
  • Attend court hearings/trials on homicides
  • Write briefs and long-form stories on homicide cases, data and trends
  • Interview the families of defendants and victims
  • Interview court employees
  • Work in groups to create broadcast projects
  • Other administrative responsibilities

This internship is unpaid.
