Internship @ Red Blue Together

February 21, 2018

At a time of bitter political divisiveness, Red Blue Together collects and shares stories of successful relationships across political divides.

Red Blue Together seeks a student who would like to manage Red Blue Together's online and social media presence and assist with outreach to media outlets. This is an exciting opportunity to truly experience the start of an organization. The mission of Red Blue Together should speak to many students: Our country has become dangerously politically polarized, and we need to do something about it.

Responsibilities include, at a minimum:

  • Updating and potentially revamping the website
  •  Website SEO
  • Posting on and maximizing impact/reach on existing social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram)
  • Strategizing other avenues for outreach (e.g., other social media platforms, more traditional media platforms) to broadly spread a message that we can like and connect with those who do not share our political views
  • Assistance with crafting messages to and reaching out to media outlets to spread the stories and project message

As a new organization, this position would be unpaid, at least during the spring semester. Red Blue Together would gladly work with professors to provide academic credit.

Work should be no more than 10 hours per week. Hours would be flexible, so long as deadlines are met. The founder, James Coan, lives in DC and can meet frequently with the student. Likely the candidate would be a college sophomore or junior, but those in other class years and grad students are encouraged to apply. The flexible start date would probably be in March.

How to Apply:

Those interested should email a resume to the founder James Coan at [email protected].

No cover letters are needed. However, the email can include information not apparent from the resume, such as interest in the mission of the project and/or background details about availability. There is no specific application deadline, but applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
