Internships @ The American Prospect

August 2, 2018

Editorial and digital interns assist the editorial department with fact-checking and research for the print magazine and also assist with the daily production of The American Prospect's website. Knowledge of HTML is a plus, as is research and fact-checking experience. Interns are encouraged to contribute editorially and participate in meetings in addition to pursuing their own projects under the guidance of staff members. The internship program features brown-bag lunches with guest speakers from local media and progressive organizations. We encourage interns to fully integrate themselves into the operations of the magazine while taking full advantage of the events and hearings only available in Washington, D.C.

The Prospect offers an editorial internship and a digital engagement and social media internship. Digital interns will work closely with the editorial interns, and are also encouraged to contribute editorially and assist in fact-checking and research for the print magazine. Please specify in your application if you are interested in the editorial or the digital internship.

This is an internship with flexible hours and a $1,400 monthly stipend (for full-time work). The American Prospect will assist in arranging for academic or work-study credit whenever possible.

Applicants should have an interest in politics and journalism. People of color, women, and LGBTQ people are strongly encouraged to apply. To apply, please mail or e-mail a cover letterresume; and two printable writing samples (not links, preferably clips) to:
