Jacob Helberg currently serves as Policy Advisor leading News Policy at Google in San Francisco and Mountain View, California. Some of his top areas of focus include developing product policies protecting news products against disinformation, promoting a more transparent and accountable news ecosystem, and creating new protections for victims of synthetic involuntary pornography and online doxing seeking the removal of their personal information from Search results.
Most recently, Jacob wrote Google's company-wide policy strategy against foreign interference and helped lead internal investigations against coordinated and inauthentic state-sponsored activity.
Prior to joining Google, Jacob co-founded Geoquant, a startup that combines political science with big data computer science to help global investors forecast geopolitical risk. Jacob graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in International Affairs from the George Washington University.
