Living Standard Communications Intern @ U.S. Green Building Council

The Living Standard Communications Intern will gain valuable experience in working in a startup capacity on USGBC’s new Living Standard campaign.

Living Standard is a new campaign launched by USGBC in November 2018, and it seeks to connect with people around the country who have a story to share about sustainability in their lives. The person in this role will collect these stories via the Living Standard website and other digital properties, and coordinate with staff.

Overall responsibilities will include content development for social media and website, social media calendaring, event planning, and identifying partnerships. This position will play an active role in helping to develop an exciting new grassroots campaign. This unpaid internship is based out of our D.C. Headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop content for a variety of social media and digital platforms.
  • Assist with planning out long-term social media and media campaigns.
  • Assist with research and event planning around Living Standard events.
  • Help with identifying storytelling opportunities for Living Standard campaign.
  • Participate in and contribute ideas during regular Living Standard planning meetings.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current enrollment in undergraduate or graduate program of study is required.
  • Major or specialization in Communications, Professional Writing, Marketing, Journalism, English, or relevant experience or study is preferred.
  • Previous work experience in a social media, marketing, or communications position is preferred but not required.

OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience supporting brand social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong writing and communications skills
  • Graphic design experience a plus (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Basic HTML knowledge a plus
  • Experience with Slack a plus
