Veteran communication and reputation strategist and SMPA Media and Public Affairs Council member Howard Opinsky, BA '91, has been named the president of Five Blocks, a fast-growing digital reputation consulting and technology firm. He will provide strategic counsel to clients and lead the company's growth and expansion as more corporations and high-profile individuals seek innovative solutions to build, promote, and defend their digital reputations.

Five Blocks provides ethical and effective digital strategies to help clients take control of their reputations in good times and in crisis. Their approach to reputation management utilizes data, proprietary technology and authentic search strategies rather than relying on technological tricks or manufactured content. They work directly with clients and partner with communication consultants and PR firms to bring effective and reliable results.

"We are pleased to have Howard join Five Blocks as we quickly scale our offering to help even more clients effectively control their digital reputations," said Sam Michelson, CEO and Founder of Five Blocks. "From fake news to bots and competitive content, Howard understands the latest challenges faced by corporations and individuals seeking fair and honest representation of their brand. Howard's mix of communication, reputation management and business expertise will benefit our company and our clients as we continue to innovate and adapt to the ever-changing digital environment."

Howard is a veteran digital communication strategist, crisis counselor, and corporate brand builder. He utilizes a combination of experience from politics, business, and the highest levels of major global corporations to deliver value and insight to clients. For over 15 years, Howard has been a senior executive at Hill+Knowlton Strategies and Weber Shandwick where his clients included several global corporations, NGO's, high-profile individuals, and governments. Howard began his career as a political strategist and communication advisor to candidates and causes including Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign.

"It's never been more difficult to build a good reputation, nor easier to lose it, than in today's digital world," said Howard. "The Five Blocks team is the most experienced partner to help brands navigate this challenge with effective strategies and outstanding client service. I'm delighted to join Five Blocks and eager to help bring our services and technology to even more clients."
