In early May, NewsroomU brought together 25 top student journalists – 23 from college and 2 from high school – selected to participate in an inaugural student press conference with White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest and report on election year issues affecting D.C. Metro Area millennials. The student storytellers covered a range of topics and issues including documenting the intimate story of a sexual assault survivor fighting to make a difference, covering D.C. issues including statehood to gentrification, reporting with the White House press for President Obama’s Howard University commencement speech and getting an exclusive interview with the Howard University president, to name a few of the stories. Visit the website to read all the stories, watch the behind the scenes video, and learn more about NewsroomU at GW.

Newsroom U was organized and orchestrated by SMPA Professor Imani Cheers in partnership with the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication, and the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at San Jose State University.
