The School of Media and Public Affairs (SMPA) at George Washington University invites applications to a full-time, non-tenure-accruing, fixed-term, renewable faculty position offered at the rank of assistant or associate professor to begin as early as August 2019.
Responsibilities include teaching in relevant areas (e.g. broadcast news writing, field production, and studio production) at the undergraduate level; continuing creative activity or research; advising students; and performing department and university service.
Basic Qualifications
Applicants must have: a bachelor’s degree; at least five years of experience as a working news studio professional by date of appointment; potential for teaching excellence as demonstrated by teaching evaluations, letters of recommendation or faculty presentation; ability to teach studio-related courses and media production. The applicant should have a strong professional experience, working and managing a state-of-the-art digital studio in the media industry and/or universities with expertise in television, web, and social media, and potential for teaching excellence.

An internationally recognized center for research and teaching in political and international communication and journalism, The George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs is a dynamic, interdisciplinary program based in the heart of Washington, D.C., where media, public affairs and politics intersect.
We offer two undergraduate majors (journalism/mass communication and political communication) as well as an MA degree in media and public affairs focused on strategic political communication. We also offer an M.A. degree in global communication jointly with the Elliott School of International Affairs.
