Communications Internship @ National Gallery of Art

The Communications Intern assists the Department of Communications (DIO) with daily operations including: writing social media posts and calendar submissions, monitoring and compiling media coverage, preparing press materials, updating contact lists, supporting press events, assisting visiting press, photographers, and videographers, performing research, and other duties as assigned.

Duties

Writing

  • Draft social media posts for exhibitions and programs
  • Capture and compile daily media coverage
  • Calendar submissions

Research and Data Entry

  • Assist in new Tour Operator database
  • Update Influencers database
  • Research targeted media

Communications/Marketing Events

  • Participate in press events and community outreach initiatives
  • Provide support to film/photoshoots

Additional Activities

  • Participate in inter-departmental and department meetings
  • Visit other museum press events for additional experience in the field

Skills Required

  • Seeking degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Art History, or related field.
  • Recommendation from professor, work supervisor, or academic advisor.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.

Terms

Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available; please note the number of hours per week you are willing to work in your application. This internship is unpaid. To receive academic credit, it is your responsibility to arrange to receive credit with your university before the internship start date.
