Michael Tomasky

Michael Tomasky is the editor of The New Republic, where he also writes two columns a week for the website. In addition, he is the editor of Democracy: A Journal of Ideas, a policy quarterly journal based in Washington. He has been a frequent contributor to The New York Review of Books, for which he has written more than 50 pieces over the past 20 years. From 2016 through 2020, he was a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times. He has also written for The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Daily Beast, and many other publications and has made frequent television and radio appearances.

He is the author of six books, most recently The Middle Out, about the politics of economic policy-making. He lives outside Washington DC with his wife and daughter.
