Hadas Gold, BA '10, M.A. '12, will join CNN to cover a new beat on European politics, media and global business. She spent the past five years at Politico covering media and politics after graduating from the Journalism and Mass Communication and Media and Public Affairs programs at SMPA.
Her first stop at CNN will be the London bureau at the end of August and she will officially begin her new role in D.C. on Sept. 5.
“We are tremendously proud of our double-alumna. She has made tremendous contributions as a student, member of the National Council for Media and Public Affairs and in her five years at Politico. Her exciting career growth is richly deserved and a point of pride for all of us in the SMPA community,” said SMPA director and former CNN D.C. bureau chief Frank Sesno.
As a student, Hadas received a prestigious Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting fellowship where she worked with Spanish-language network NTN24 following trash pickers in Argentina. She also wrote for The GW Hatchet and interned at "60 Minutes," Politifact and Cox Newspapers.
Hadas joined the National Council for Media and Public Affairs, the SMPA director's advisory body in spring, 2017.
In an email to the newsroom, Politico executive editor Peter Canellos wrote "Hadas is respected throughout the media world for her dogged but always fair-minded pursuit of news scoops... All of her skills will be put to use as she moves beyond the media beat to explore European politics."
