The Dewey Square Group/Latinovations is seeking an intern to work in the Washington D.C. office to assist principals and associates with government relations and communications client support in the Latino strategies ractice area. Candidate should possess superb writing skills for contributions to the Latinovations blog, La Plaza.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with the maintenance of a daily blog and weekly newsletter. Tasks will include writing daily pieces for the blog, posting updates, maintaining and building the distribution list and electronically publishing the newsletter
- Utilizing social media and web analytics tools to effectively track, measure, and report on digital campaigns
- Communicating with clients, as well as outside entities such as organizations and companies on behalf of clients
- Updating and maintaining press lists and media contacts
- Assisting in the preparation of press releases and press advisories in English and in Spanish, and calling media to pitch news stories
- Monitoring federal, state and local legislation and preparing ongoing update reports for clients
- Organizing meetings and handling logistics of events for clients; preparing promotional materials (i.e. graphics, flyers, etc.) when needed
Candidate must be highly organized, with administrative office experience and strong verbal and writing skills as well as possessing the ability to multi-task.
Ideal for someone looking for an opportunity to gain experience within the public affairs, media relations, consulting arena, willing to learn and understand issues impacting the Latino community and able to assist on business development.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
The position is paid $12.50 per hour or college credit can be received. The intern is expected to work 30 hours a week. The schedule is flexible.
