The National Juvenile Justice Network (NJJN) seeks a communications intern for the spring and/or summer of 2017 (spring interns may be offered the opportunity to continue through summer based on performance and need). We are seeking a college sophomore, junior or senior with relevant coursework or work experience to provide communications support.
NJJN leads a national movement of state-based juvenile justice coalitions and organizations to secure state and federal laws, policies and practices that are fair, equitable and developmentally appropriate for all children, youth and families involved in, or at risk of becoming involved in, the justice system.
The intern will support NJJN’s communications activities, including:
- Drafting social media posts (Facebook and Twitter)
- Assisting with creation of the monthly newsletter
- Designing graphics
- Google AdWords management
- Building a youth justice photo library
- Creating promotional material (written, audio, and video)
- Website management and maintaining our digital library
- Copy editing of NJJN’s written material
- Documenting citations of NJJN’s work
- Media relations assistance
The intern must have excellent research and writing skills, communications experience, the ability to work independently, and a demonstrated commitment to social justice. Experience working on issues related to social justice and/or experience in the field of youth justice is strongly preferred, but not required. The intern must be able to work in a collaborative team environment and approach all assignments with a creative lens.
