Internship @ Canek for Alexandria City Council

Canek for Alexandria City Council is seeking two interns to join the team. Interns will have an opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the city council race and are expected to be full, contributing members of the team. No coffee fetching here. The ideal candidates will have a passion for progressive policies, aren’t shy when talking to strangers, and are big fans of organization. Bonus points if you’re bilingual and/or are familiar with Alexandria.

Interns will be involved in the following areas:

  • Grassroots Organization and Voter Outreach
  • Volunteer Recruitment and Retention
  • Policy Research
  • Social Media  
  • Earned Media/Press
  • Targeting and Voter History Research
  • Event Planning and Staffing
  • Fundraising

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have excellent communications skills and the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Schedules can be flexible, but a minimum commitment of 12-15 hours per week is required, including some weekend and evening hours.
  • Interns must be able to travel to Alexandria, although a car is not necessary.

This internship is unpaid but they can provide college credit and a small monthly stipend.
