The Press Fights Back

From “Alternative Facts” to “Truth isn’t Truth”
Mon, 24 September, 2018 7:00pm

You heard it first on “Meet the Press” with Chuck Todd

The former GW student will discuss Trump, politics, the media and the midterms during this one-on-one conversation.

From White House counselor Kellyanne Conway’s “alternative facts” to Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani’s “truth isn’t truth,” Todd is in the crosshairs of President Donald Trump’s war on the press as moderator of TV’s longest running show and America's most-watched Sunday morning public affairs broadcast.

Now, he says the press must fight back.

“Access isn’t journalism’s holy grail — facts are,” he wrote in The Atlantic. “We’re going to need to start fighting back.”

Who is to blame when the president openly and repeatedly calls the media the “enemy of the people?”

What do we do now?

Join us for a conversation on the future of our press — and our democracy — with the former GW student and member of SMPA’s National Council for Media and Public Affairs.

Introductory remarks will be made by GW President Thomas J. LeBlanc.
