Professor Usher Wins Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver Outstanding Young Scholar Award

August 7, 2015

Professor Nikki Usher was awarded the 2015 Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver Outstanding Young Scholar Award today. She was presented this award at the AEJMC Conference in San Francisco. Each year, the award is presented to a female junior scholar "who demonstrates outsanding research and great potential for future scholarship."

Twenty-four other academics were nominated for the Kopenhaver Award this year, but judges said they were impressed with Usher's work, calling it "productive, ambitious and focused, with sophisticated use of theory and methods."

Professor Usher published a book in 2014 titled "Making News at the New York Times," which highlighted how the newspaper was adjusting to digital-age journalism. Much of her research focuses on information and communication technologies in the digital age.
