Are you a recent graduate or a university upperclassman looking for competitively paid, fast-paced, real-world experience at a top K-Street trade association? If so, the International Franchise Association (IFA) has an opening for an intern at its Foundation, based at its Washington, D.C. headquarters. The internship starts on January 7th, 2019 and runs through May 31st, and can accommodate a flexible schedule of 24-40 hours per week. The intern will engage with and support all aspects of the Foundation’s work, including diversity programming, education, communications/content and program development. The internship may require travel to the national convention in Las Vegas, NV, from February 24-27th.
IFA is the world’s oldest and largest organization representing franchising worldwide, with a mission to protect, enhance and promote the franchise business model. IFA represents and advocates on behalf of the franchising sector, which accounts for nearly $700 billion in economic output for the U.S. economy and 2.5 percent of GDP. The IFA Foundation supports the mission of the IFA and the entire franchise community through education, programming and content.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with the Vice President and Directors of the Foundation to support them in their everyday work.
- Support and execute communications of the Foundation and its various programs by writing copy for internal and external publications and social media.
- Work regularly with the Foundation’s Excel databases and spreadsheets.
- Support the Foundation’s multi-million dollar fundraising efforts by maintaining and updating donor databases etc.
- Support and contribute to the development of the Foundation’s programs, including a professional certification program, and outreach to diverse communities, veterans, millennials and non-profits.
Required experience:
- Ability to multi-task and work with a diverse and dynamic team of colleagues across the Foundation and the IFA.
- Strong communications, writing and editing skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, tight-knit team, including C-suite executives.
- Moderate level experience working with Microsoft Excel.
- High attention to detail, accuracy and accountability for your own work.
- Self-motivated and independent – able to take an assignment and work independently to complete it on deadline.
- Pursuing or holding a degree in government, policy, international affairs, communications or a related field.
