During the Spring semester, accomplished journalist and author Michael Tomasky will join SMPA as the 2025 Shapiro Fellow of Media & Public Affairs. Tomasky is known for his experience as an editor, columnist, commentator, and correspondent for renowned publications such as The Guardian, The Washington Post, The New York Times, the Daily Beast, The New Republic, and many others. He is also the editor of The New Republic, where he also writes two columns a week for the website, as well as the editor of Democracy: A Journal of Ideas, a policy quarterly journal based in Washington, D.C. Tomasky has been a trusted voice in political journalism for more than three decades.
This Spring, Tomasky will be teaching SMPA 3195: Persuasive Journalism.
