Research Assistant @ Alexandra Zapruder (author)

August 31, 2018

Author Alexandra Zapruder seeks a smart, energetic, curious and capable intern, preferably someone with strong organizational skills, an excellent sense of humor and an interest in the world of writing, the arts, history and creative life.

The range of tasks will include research for new projects and organizing that research with platforms such as Evernote or mind-mapping/project management tools like X-Mind. I may sometimes need support for fellowship or grant applications and the like, and in correspondence of various kinds. I could also use administrative help in a variety of areas, especially around managing a complex schedule and using my computer, which sometimes makes me want to cry.

My ideal candidate is someone who I can connect with personally and who will be a partner in helping me streamline and organize my work and professional life so that I can do more. I need someone who can take direction but I would welcome candidates who will bring ideas, initiative and problem-solving skills to the work. I am open to suggestions and willing to try lots of things.

This is a job that can change over time. The right person might become a paid researcher for my next book or work in some other capacity on one of my other projects. I am especially interested in candidates who are pursuing careers in writing, storytelling, history or art. I can be a good and encouraging mentor to the right person and there is an excellent learning opportunity here for someone who wants to chart his or her own path in the world of letters and the arts.
