Past Experience Includes, but is not limited to:

Sunday Arts & Style Editor and daily Popular Culture Editor, The Washington
Post. In this key management position, I oversee and coordinate daily arts, culture and
entertainment coverage, and also plan and edit and the Sunday Style & Arts section.
Responsibilities include supervision of two assistant editors as well as direct or indirect
supervision of writers covering music, television, film, fine arts, museums and federal
arts agencies. In this capacity I track the assignments of 20 staff reporters and several
stringers, and coordinate with other department heads as well as our Web-based
operations.
 
March 1991 to Present: Staff writer, The Washington Post. I have covered major
stories nationwide and abroad for the Style section and the national and foreign desks. I
most recently covered the First Family, as well as the Obama administration's cultural
and social impact on Washington. I have reported from Israel, Gaza and Iraq; covered
terrorism; done investigative reporting on the FBI and the U.S. intelligence community;
written many in-depth profiles and complex narratives; and served as "The Reliable
Source" columnist.
 
Also: Assignment editor, Style (2005-2008). My management experience includes
overseeing staff reporters (usually a half-dozen) and up to 20 free-lance writers on
several beats, including arts, media and politics.
