SMPA Welcomes Assistant Professor Rajeshwari Majumdar

Rajeshwari Majumdar

The School of Media and Public Affairs is thrilled to welcome Dr. Rajeshwari Majumdar as our new Assistant Professor of Media and Public Affairs. Her research explores political communication, intergroup relations, ethnic nationalism, social media, experimental methods, and Indian politics, bringing a global perspective to SMPA’s scholarship and teaching.

Dr. Majumdar’s work has appeared in leading journals, including Political Behavior and The Journal of Politics, as well as in publications like the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Hindustan Times, and VoxDev. Her research has earned numerous awards, including the Aaron Wildavsky Best Dissertation in Religion and Politics Award, the Paul Lazarsfeld Best Paper in Political Communication Award, and the Distinguished Junior Scholar in Political Psychology Award.

Before joining GW, Dr. Majumdar served as a Postdoctoral Associate at Yale University, and was affiliated with the Identity & Conflict Lab at The MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from New York University (NYU).
