A House Divided: How to Survive our Polarized Times
A Conversation with Senator Cory Booker
September 28, 6pm | JMA

Can democracy prevail? What’s a roadmap for the future? SMPA's new series invites thought-leaders, students, and the community to think boldly and creatively.

We are excited to share our inaugural speaker with you first: Senator Cory Booker (NJ),  former mayor of Newark, presidential candidate, and GW commencement speaker

Check out this special message from the Senator:

During this tumultuous time of unprecedented polarization, Prof Frank Sesno and Senator Booker will discuss how we confront the challenges facing our democracy and our future.

This will not be just another conversation or lecture; it will be an only at SMPA event. You will have the chance to engage directly with our speakers, pose tough questions, and share ideas about what we can do to navigate these difficult times.

Don’t miss your chance to see this unique event with Senator Booker and Frank Sesno. View the live stream here!

Endowed by GW alumni Ted Segal, B.A. ’03, and Meredith Perla Segal, B.Accy. ’05, The Sesno Series was created to honor the contributions of SMPA professor and former CNN reporter, anchor, and Washington Bureau Chief Frank Sesno. At a time of polarization, disinformation, and discord, this new series will bring to campus influential voices from across the political spectrum to discuss our democracy, our future, and our world.

Join us for the next Sesno Series on February 21, 2024!
