Silvio Waisbord Recognized as International Communication Association Fellow

Silvio Waisbord joins the ranks of the most distinguished communication scholars.

SMPA Associate Director Silvio Waisbord joins the ranks of the most distinguished communication scholars as an International Communication Association (ICA) fellow. The 2018 ICA fellows were announced during the organization's 68th Annual Conference held in Prague, Czech Republic in May.

 

ICA fellowship status recognizes distinguished scholarly contributions in the field of communication as well as service to ICA and active public engagement.

Waisbord has lectured and worked in more than 30 countries, published 13 books and written over 100 journal articles, book chapters and newspaper columns. He also serves on the advisory board of the Latin American program of Open Society Foundations, is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Communication and the former editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Press/Politics

His recent books include The Routledge Companion to Media and Human Rights, News of Baltimore: Race, Rage and the City, and Media Movements: Civil Society and Media Reform in Latin America.

ICA has over 4,500 academic members across 80 countries and is officially associated with the United Nations as a non-governmental association.
