Communications Intern @ Institute for State Effectiveness

The Institute for State Effectiveness, a Think (and Do) Tank that provides proven tools to help states deliver services to citizens through more accountable and effective governance, is looking for a communications intern to join their team. All assignments given to the intern will add value both to ISE and to the intern’s development as a professional in the field. This is a great opportunity for anyone planning to begin a career in the communications, international relations, and development fields, to gain first-hand experience on various aspects of communications in a global organization.

Compensation: Stipend available

Length: 3 – 6 months

This internship offers you the opportunity to:

Responsibilities:

  • Using data and research, create and curate compelling content, including infographics
  • Fully supporting the organization’s communications strategy and executing it in different phases, including identifying opportunities for media engagement 
  • Assist with updating and content management of the website
  • Assist with the quarterly newsletter, including content creation, photos and design
  • Schedule, coordinate and attend various speaking engagements, panels and other special events
  • Assist with print design layouts and print production
  • Monitor all forms of media
  • Assist in developing the social media content and enhancing organization’s social media platforms
  • Proof-reading reports, programs and other materials for clarity and accuracy to ensure they meet our high-quality standards.
  • Attend planning and strategy meetings
  • Other administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, experience with InDesign and Mailchimp a plus
  • Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team as well as working individually as appropriate
  • Excellent writing skills with an attention to details, accuracy and organization
  • Excellent verbal communications skills
  • Photography and videography skills preferred
  • Strong desire to learn along with professional drive
  • Academic and/or work experience related to the field of research
